Megapegs - Ergonomic, Easy Grip Clothes Pegs

Does anybody remember the old wooden clothes pegs? They were great fun for kids. You could cut out a strip of card, give it a bit of a twist, put a thumbtack through the middle and stick it on the end of a peg. Bingo, you had a propeller. When it came to hanging out

washing, they were very easy to use and quite effective at holding clothes on the line. About the only downside was that, being wooden, they would deteriorate if left out in the weather.

Modern clothes pegs tend to be spring loaded. Some are plastic and some are metal. My experience is that the plastic ones tend to be rather brittle and break easily. The metal ones are certainly much more robust but, in the summer heat, they can get rather hot in the sun. Both also suffer from the fact that the springs often tend to rust over time and they can be difficult to use if you suffer from arthritis or have lost some grip strength, perhaps due to age or injury. It was to address these issues that the Megapeg was developed.

This is yet another great Australian idea from an Australian company. The Megapeg resembles the old wooden clothes peg but is made of UV resistant plastic designed to resist the Australian sun. It is rather large and has no springs so is very easy to hold and use and provides a solid grip on your washing. Even if you have arthritis you can still use a Megapeg.

Unfortunately, you can’t push a thumbtack into the end to attach a propeller (sorry, kids) but they are still a fantastic peg.

You can get some here.
